Military Cross 'For continuous excellent service in Gallipoli and France, frequently under heavy fire, especially at the Somme, in laying and maintenance of Divisional Signal Lines. He has on separate occasions had his pince nez broken on his nose by a bullet, been wounded in the neck and twice been blown off his feet by a shell explosion but has not left duty on any occasion. Was recommended for his special services
at the Somme for Immediate Reward. His service since that date has been excellent.'
