Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in the field near Briastre on 11th October, 1918. This soldier is a stretcher bearer and was tireless in carrying out his duties under heavy machine gun and shell fire. He displayed fine skill and initiative
as well as cool courage, and worked unceasingly until all the wounded of his Company were safely evacuated.'
