Embarked Wellington, 20 August 1916; disembarked Devonport, England, 25 October 1916, and marched into Sling Camp.

Proceeded overseas to France, 25 November 1916; joined 2nd Bn, Wellington Infantry Regiment, in the field, 14 December 1916.

Admitted to 14th General Hospital, Wimereux, 2 February 1917 (debility); transferred to England, 8 February 1917, and admitted to No 2 NZ General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames; attached on strength, Grey Towers, 13 March 1917; marched into NZ Command Depot, Codford, 20 April 1917.

Found guilty, 9 May 1917, of being absent without leave: awarded forfeiture of 3 days' pay, and 3 days' pay under Royal Warrant.

Admitted to No 2 NZ General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames, 28 July 1917 (appendicitis); transferred to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 20 August 1917; admitted to No 2 NZ General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames, 1 October 1917.
