Military Medal 'Action before Gouzeaucourt on 9th September 1918 and subsequent days. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. As leader of a squad of a stretcher bearers, he led his squad through heavily shelled country under difficult and trying conditions. His efficient and consistent work greatly helped the steady evacuation of wounded over an area rendered difficult by shell fire and lack of roads.'
