Wounded in action, 26 August 1918 (gun shot wound, face and hand), and admitted to No 1 NZ Field Ambulance; transferred same day to Casualty Clearing Station; to No 2 NZ Field Ambulance, 27 August 1918; rejoined unit, in the field, 27 August 1918.

Wounded in action (second occasion), 27 September 1917 (gun shot wound, right arm), and admitted to 3/2 West Lancashire Field Ambulance; transferred to Casualty Clearing Station; to 3rd General Hospital, Le Treport, 28 September 1918; to England, 4 October 1918, and admitted same day to No 2 NZ General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames.

Commenced return to New Zealand from Liverpool on board HT 'Athenic', 3 February 1919; discharged, 18 April 1919.
