'For devotion to duty and gallantry in action from 4th to 6th October 1918, near Crevecouer. While employed as Company Stretcher-Bearer he carried out wounded men under heavy shell and machine gun fire. He has always displayed the greatest gallantry under fire and has been indefatigable in attending to the wounded.'
