Military Medal 'Operations the Becelaere Sector 9th December to 15th December 1917. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On the morning of 12th December 1917, this NCO was in command of ration limbers at Wattle Dump, where he showed great courage in extricating his teams while under heavy shell fire. Although slightly wounded himself, he showed great coolness in dressing other wounded men. His gallant behaviour and coolness undoubtedly helped to save the lives of at least two NCOs who were severely wounded.'
