Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty while snipping in "No Man?s Land". In a skilful and fearless manner he worked his way to within 20 yards of the hostile trenches, where he killed ten of the enemy. Later, during the attack, he did excellent work in snipping the enemy as they showed themselves in throwing bombs.'
