Military Medal 'These men are stretcher bearers and throughout the long day of 23rd worked assiduously despite heavy artillery and machine gun fire to clean the battlefield of wounded. Their disregard for danger and devotion to duty and their comrades in distress was wonderful and although the distance to carry was considerable, the day very hot and the going difficult, they did not stop until all cases were in to ADS.'
