Military Medal 'For gallantry and devotion to duty on the night of 3/4th July near Armentieres our trenches were subjected to a heavy bombardment for over two hours and act/Corporal Shaw assisted Sgt Andrews during the whole time, and between them they dug out 11 men who had been buried.'
