Marched in to Reserve Group, Codford, 4 November 1916, and classified 'unfit for further service'[rheumatism and neuritis]. Commenced return to New Zealand on board SS 'Rotorua', 17 November 1916; discharged (medically unfit for Active Service although fit for employment in civil life), 5 February 1917. War service: 315 days (of which 197 days were abroad) Medal: British War Medal Re-enlisted 22 April 1919; discharged, 15 November 1920, in consequence of having been convicted by the civil power (incest): sentenced to 5 years' imprisonment with hard labour, Public Prison, Wellington. |
