'Operations: British front line South of Hebuterne. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On the 5th June 1918 Sergeant Scott led a silent raiding party of 1 NCO and 4 men, intending to raid a suspected enemy post about 500 yards from our front line. The enterprise was completely successful. Two men watched the flank of the party while the remainder of the party jumped the enemy wire fence into the trenches, where they surprised and captured two of the enemy, one evidently a sentry. The party then moved along about 15 yards and captured five more prisoners. They then returned to our lines, overland, with the 7 prisoners, and without suffering casualties. The enterprise was particularly daring as the party set out at 10am, and its success was largely due to the skilful leadership of Sergeant Scott. The operation was performed in full view of this NCO's Company, on whom it had a splendid effect.'
