Military Medal 'For gallantry and devotion to duty during the attack on Gravenstafel on October 4th 1917. This man worked constantly for 36 hours through heavy barrage and by
searching shell holes was able to bring back to safety many men who would otherwise have been missed. His coolness under fire was a fine example to the
other men.'
