Military Medal 'During operations in front of Serre during the attack on April 5th 1918. For gallantry and devotion to duty. This soldier carried in wounded under the heaviest artillery fire and in spite of machine guns playing on the forward regimental aid post he went repeatedly forward with his Bearer squad and kept the post clear. His coolness under these circumstances and his untiring efforts in bringing in the wounded were a great incentive to the other bearers in his squad. He has always been fearless in action and has always done excellent work.'
