Mentioned in Despatches 'This NCO was a runner throughout the Gallipoli campaign and was under a Sergeant at the reorganisation in Egypt. At Armentieres he performed excellent work in the several changes of position that the battery had while there. Again on the Somme he has always been most cool and efficient in keeping his gun in action in spite of casualties to both men and equipment. At several times his battery has been heavily shelled. He has also on several occasions had to take the place of an officer and has performed the work most efficiently.'
