Military Medal 'During the Messines Offensive and previously. This NCO was in charge of a repair gang on the forward tramline from St Quentin to Boyle?s Farm, and Gooseberry Farm. When it was his tour of duty he never failed to keep the lines open for traffic, repairing blowouts and damaged bridges, very often under heavy shell fire. He set a splendid example of courage and devotion to duty. Period 7th to 11th June
