Military Medal 'For gallantry. This NCO is in charge of the Lewis guns of his Company. On the morning of 28th February 1917, when the enemy attempted to enter our trenches
his devotion to duty and fighting of his guns was particularly noticeable. He moved up and down the front trench during the bombardment and finally took charge of two guns in the centre of the bombarded area. He was cool and collected and showed great bravery. Locality: east of Ploegsteert.'
