Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the operations near Crevecoeur from 29th September to 3rd October, 1918. As intelligence officer, he daily went round the front line visiting all the posts and locating enemy points of resistance. All the time he and his observers were under the most intense machine gun fire, but his reports were sent in with accuracy and rapidity.'
