Embarked Wellington, 23 September 1916; disembarked Devonport, England, 18 November 1916, and marched into Sling Camp.

Proceeded overseas to France, 9 December 1916; joined 2nd Bn, Canterbury Infantry Regiment, in the field, 7 January 1917.

Admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, 10 August 1917 (gun shot wound, abdominal wall: slight); discharged same day to unit.

Killed in action, 12 October 1917.

Buried Passchendaele D.9.d.8.8 Belle Vue Spur: report by Rev J.A. Lush, att. 2nd Bn, Canterbury Infantry Regiment; grave subsequently lost.
