Meritorious Service Medal 'The Company Q.M.S. being detached on other duties Cpl Riley took over Q.M.S. duties in April 1918. Since then this NCO has carried out his duties faithfully and in a very efficient manner. On no occasion since April 1918 has he failed to get
through to his Company with rations and water.'

During the attack on Messines this man led his section into an enemy strong point and personally killed three of the enemy. Although wounded he remained fighting until ordered back by his platoon commander.'
