Military Medal

'Operations between Messines and Warneton 14th and 15th June 1917. In an assault against the enemy strong point this N.C.O. showed great bravery notwithstanding heavy fire from Machine Guns and rapid rifle fire. He showed fearless disregard for danger crawling under light of enemy's flares and made two attempts to bomb out Machine Guns. He showed great courage and devotion to duty throughout the whole operation.'
