Medals

Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry in the field. On the 20th October and on the subsequent days the Battalion was in the front line system in front of Kron Prinz Farm this man did splendid and valuable work as a Runner and guide under very trying circumstances. The position occupied by his Company was at all times open to direct observation from the enemy and was continually subjected to heavy shell fire. In spite of these difficulties this man made himself thoroughly acquainted with the whole sector and proved invaluable as a guide over country were land marks were nonexistent. He volunteered for work at all times of the day and night and throughout performed all his duties with a cheerfulness and utter disregard for his personal safety which set a splendid example to all ranks. No praise can be too high for the intelligent and courageous work which he performed under the most trying conditions.'
