Source: London Gazette Date: Military Cross 'For gallantry and devotion to duty during the period under consideration, midnight 16/17th September and cessation of hostilities November 11th. During the
operations near Crevecouer he delivered urgent bridging material on site under heavy shell fire. His energy courage and coolness has at all times been most marked and a splendid example to his men. His work in the Somme (1916) La Basse Ville and Ypres has been of a very high standard.'
