Medals

Distinguished Service Order

'For conspicuous good work and gallantry. This officer is 2nd in command of his Battalion but has commanded for three months during the last six months. He was in command during the latter stages of the Messines Offensive and showed very fine qualities of leadership and organising ability, especially on the night 13/14th June when, at short notice, his Battalion was ordered to advance and establish a line of posts west of La Basse Ville. This they did, but the situation being obscure at dawn on the 14th June, this officer, under heavy rifle and machine gun fire, made a personal reconnaissance of the front and brought back an accurate and valuable report. His work has been always been of the same high standard.'
