Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the operations near Bapaume on the 24th August 1918, Private Proud took command of his section and
flanked an enemy strong point which had been holding up the advance, and forced the enemy to retire. His initiative and personal courage set a fine example to his comrades.'
