Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the operations 24th/26th August in the Bapaume Sector on several occasions when his Company was held
up by an enemy machine gun and which was inflicting heavy casualties on his platoon, this NCO organised bombing parties and by great skill and leadership was
successful in wiping out the machine gun post. Throughout the whole operations from August 24th/September 14th he set a fine example of gallantry and devotion to duty.'
