Military Medal

'For gallantry and devotion to duty on June 8th during attack on Messines Ridge. This man displayed indefatigable energy in leading his bearer squad through heavy artillery fire in search of wounded. His coolness and performance under heavy fire was a splendid example to the men. He brought in many men who were lying in shell holes wounded and exposed to heavy artillery fire. He did meritorious work.'
