Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry in action. Near Ypres on October 12th 1917, under heavy shell fire and when his section had suffered heavy casualties he organised a carrying party and collected ammunition from wounded men. He made repeated trips through the enemy barrage personally bringing up ammunition and thereby enabled the machine guns to remain in action. His example of courage and devotion to duty under heavy fire was splendid.'
