Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty while constructing a bridge at Pont a Pierres near Romeries during the afternoon of October 27th 1918. For several hours this NCO encouraged the working party while constructing a bridge under heavy shell fire, and throughout the work he set a splendid example of coolness, perseverance and gallantry to all who were with him.'
