Military Medal 'Operations: West of Bapaume, 25th August 1918. For gallantry and devotion to duty. This soldier carried out his duties as Company runner under very heavy
machine-gun fire with great zeal and determination. He carried messages from Company Headquarters to the front troops although several had previously been
killed endeavouring to perform this duty. He was cheerful and courageous under all circumstances.'
