Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on morning of 1st October, 1918, near Crevecoeur, in handling his platoon under heavy shelling and machine gun fire. Just before reaching his final objective he pursued a large party of the enemy along a sunken road, and, overtaking them, captured thirty five with an empty revolver. Later, when his company was left in an exposed position, he went round his posts encouraging his men to hold on.'
