Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. At Colincamps on the Ancre on 5th April 1918, Rifleman Peters Section Commander became a casualty early in the bombardment preliminary to the attack. This man immediately took command of
the section, cheered them by his fine example, and steadied them to meet the advancing infantry. He continued to work the Section with great skill and gallantry. His men were in a different position in an advanced post, having to deal not only with the enemy in the open but also with those in the deep C.T. leading forward, but he carried out his duties as well and set such a gallant example that they were successful at all points. The last stand of the enemy party in the C.T., was finally broken up by a small bombing party led forward with great dash by Rifleman Peters whose work throughout was the admiration of his fellows.'
