Military Medal 'On the 30th August during the operations near Bapaume this man was on duty at his Brigade Forward Station when it was blown in by a shell. Despite the hostile bombardment he saved all his instruments and reestablishing the station at a time when, owing to an impending attack by his Brigade, communications were of the utmost importance. He might have caused delay by moving the station to a safe spot but he realised the necessities of the moment and set up the station close to its former position with the result that communications were restored in time.'
