Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the attack by his Battalion on the night 22nd/23rd inst; when a shell casualties Nos 1 and 2 of a Lewis gun team, he took charge of the section and reorganised it under heavy enemy barrage and himself took the gun forward. His prompt action ensured the safety of the Battalion's right flank and allowed the line to go on unbroken.'
