Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. This NCO has been responsible for much gallant and particularly valuable work during the period from February 25th to September 16th of this year. In particular on 3rd April last when the Battalion was holding the line in front of the sugar factory at Mailly Maillet, Sgt O'Regan by a daring and skilful reconnaissance located and was the means of displacing an enemy post which was causing us many casualties with persistent regularity. Again on the 26th August, during the attack West of Bapaume this NCO who was in charge of a patrol commissioned to locate the positions of certain
enemy posts which were holding up our attack, advanced with great boldness and skill and not only located the posts but after sharp fighting drove them in and enabled the advance to continue. Subsequently on the same day he did valuable
work in obtaining touch with troops on our flanks. His work throughout the whole of the above period has been of a very high order and his example under trying and adverse circumstances has been of great value.'
