Decoration Militaire (Belgium) 'Messines Offensive, 7th to 9th June 1917. When his Officer was wounded this NCO with 10 men rushed forward and was the first to enter Messines where he
captured 4 machine guns and from 60 to 70 Germans. This NCO showed great bravery which was most conspicuous in the capture of our final objective.'
