Embarked Dunedin, 20 August 1916; disembarked Devonport, England, 24 October 1916; marched into Sling Camp, 25 October 1916.

Proceeded overseas to France, 15 November 1916; joined 2nd Bn, Canterbury Infantry Regiment, in the field, 2 December 1916.

Admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, 28 March 1917 (influenza); transferred to NZ Division Rest Station, 2 April 1917; discharged to NZ Reinforcements Camp, 9 April 1917; rejoined unit, 10 April 1917.

Wounded in action, 7 July 1917, and admitted to No 1 NZ Field Ambulance, and transferred same day to 9th Australian Field Ambulance; to NZ Divisional Rest Camp, 21 July 1917; rejoined unit, 22 July 1917.

Killed in action, Belgium, 12 October 1917.
