Recommendations (Medals and Awards)

Distinguished Conduct Medal

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. This non-commissioned officer has set a fine example of personal courage and devotion to duty on many occasions when under heavy fire and in the face of weather conditions of the most adverse descriptions, he has, night after night, brought the pack-horses carrying rations and supplies up to the battalion in the front line until its tour of duty was completed. Once, when the transport officer became a casualty and the party was somewhat disorganised, he took charge, and gathering the men together, with great determination carried the supplies through to the battalion.
