Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the operations near Bapaume between 24th August and 1st September 1918. This soldier acted as
Company runner and carried out his work with great daring. He constantly bore messages under heavy machine gun fire between platoons in the front line and was of inestimable value to his Company in keeping up communications with Companies on the flanks.'
