Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry under fire and devotion to duty in St Jean Area on 18th and 19th October 1917. Ngapo's party was employed on Wieltje/Gravenstafel Road which was heavily shelled by the enemy. Ngapo displayed great coolness and kept on with his work. He assisted to remove horses and mules from shell holes after they had been abandoned by their drivers thereby saving casualties among the animals. Work was done under exceptionally adverse circumstances. Private Ngapo has at all times proved himself a most reliable man.'
