'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the action in the foret de Mormal on 4th/5th November 1918. When the situation became obscure on the flanks, Private Berridge made several reconnaissances under rifle and machine gun fire and gave most valuable information. The same night, after dark he carried out an imprtant reconnaissance and was able to give exact and valuable information. His conduct throughout the recent operations has been most gallant, and his continuous contempt of danger has been an inspiring example to all.'
