Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and initiative near Bapaume on 1/9/18. When all Officers and NCOs had become casualties Rifleman Murray took command and led the Platoon forward to the objective under heavy machine gun fire. Murray displayed great skill and his coolness had a very steadying effect on the men.'
