Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When an ammunition dump and some light railway waggons were set alight by enemy shelling he drove a tractor
into the dump and withdrew a number of waggons loaded with high explosive ammunition which would otherwise have been destroyed. The dump was still being shelled and burning furiously. He had previously done fine service.'
