Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and good leadership on 21st August 1918 near Puisieux au Mont. In the attack on the 21st August Sergt Motion led his section on to their objective and consolidated. Finding no troops on his flank at great risk of being killed or captured he went out alone across the gap to obtain touch. This he succeeded in doing and on his return he so disposed his Platoon as to fill the gap.
By his skilful leadership and bravery he set a splendid example to all ranks.'
