'On the morning of 27/9/18 near Moeuvre this NCO assisted in laying out the lines for the battery under machine gun and shell fire and subsequently laid a telephone line to Brigade Headquarters across a valley which was being continuously swept by shell fire. This NCO has always done good work and on this particular occasion was an example of courage and devotion to duty.'
