It is not possible from the Nominal Roll to determine on which ship an individual embarked. The Nominal Roll gives the date of departure as 1 April 1916; harbour records indicate that the actual date of embarkation was 2 April 1916. | |

Military Medal 'East of Ypres on 4th October 1917 this soldier displayed throughout the attack the utmost bravery and devotion to duty. During the advance his section was surprised by an enemy bomber who threw a stick grenade into their midst. Regardless of the danger this soldier instantly seized the stick and flung it back amongst the enemy killing one and wounding two others. His prompt action undoubtedly saved his
section. Throughout the engagement his courage and devotion to duty were an example to his comrades.'
