Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On the 25th August 1918 during the operations in the vicinity of Biefvillers, Private Moreland delivered important despatches from Forward Brigade Headquarters to the Battalions in the line. The enemy artillery fire was intense and persistent. Despite the most adverse circumstances and the constant danger from bursting shells this man pushed on and finally delivered the despatches to the Battalion Headquarters. Again on the 4th September 1918, under similar conditions, he did excellent work and displayed great courage. His conduct throughout has been a fine example of stern determination and untiring devotion to duty.'
