'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on 22nd August 1918, near Puisiex au Mont. The troops on the right had fallen back and the enemy were moving forward to occupy the great trenches overlooking our positions. Lance Corporal Milne seeing this at once rushed forward to the crest with a Lewis gun and opening fire killed 12 of the enemy and wounded 8 others. The remaining five of the enemy with four machine guns were captured. By his quick decision and vigorous action Lance Corporal Milne inflicted heavy casualties on the enemy and kept the commanding positions for our own troops.'
