Military Medal 'For gallantry and devotion to duty. During the attack of the New Zealand Division east of Ypres on October 4th 1917, this stretcher bearer did splendid work in organising prisoner stretcher bearers and untiringly worked over very difficult country and under heavy shell fire until all wounded had been removed.'
