Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in the field on the 26th, and 27th days of March 1918 north east of Mailly Maillet. This man was a Battalion runner and under very heavy machine gun and shell fire he carried several messages from Battalion Headquarters to the forward posts. At all times he showed himself willing to risk his own life for the purpose of carrying out his duties. When sent out with one particularly important message at a critical stage of the operations the despatch with which it was delivered was of the utmost importance to the
Battalion.'
